Ascension
Anonymous

Stars, shimmering in the night sky,
Like birds, soaring overhead.
Eyes beaming down,
A gaze that could turn you to stone,
To ash,
To diamond,
Shining under the pressure,
As you return to the stars.

Rivers, flowing down green pastures,
Drifting slowly,
Peacefully,
Carrying their weight down the stream,
So easy to get lost in the current,
Lost in the beautiful reflection of the night sky,
As you return to the stars.

Scars, deep as the soul,
Blood still flowing from long closed wounds,
Hearts beating, but no sound
No rhythm
No hymn
Nothing
Nothing but war drums singing from the gates of Valhalla
As you return to the stars.

Words, flowing from ink,
A prison of thoughts streaming in the dark,
A cold reality,
And yet they continue to pour
And pour
And pour
Like a gush of water they flood the page,
Leaving beautiful anecdotes
As you return to the stars.

Time, marching forever onwards,
Forever pointing in one direction,
Never stopping
Never looking back
Never slowing down
Just one foot in front of the other
Left
Right
Left
Right
Left
Right
Creating a beautiful tempo,
Like a heartbeat,
Resonating within the soul,
As you return to the stars.

Watch,
With celestial eyes
And ethereal smile
And cosmic heartbeat
Beating,
Let petrichor fill the air,
As blood drops from wounds reopened,
And lest we forget,
That we gave an oath,
As you returned to the stars,
We swore in our hearts,
One day
Some day
We too will ascend,
And meet your gaze once more.
